Default do you feel guilty... rf on an overnight flight?

we have an 11+ hour, overnight flight this year. i plan on installing dd2's car seat rear facing. i'm feeling a little bad for the person in front of her. i'm guessing they won't be able to recline at all.

to add to the guilt... the row behind us will be my family. this configuration is best for us, for a number of reasons. what if the person in front of dd2 asks us (or the flight attendant) to swap dd2 with the family member behind her? what would you do?

If you have the entire row behind you then you and your rearfacing baby should be behind your family imo . I guess I just don't understand why the other way would be necessary or even preferable. I think that on an overnight flight it does make a difference and I can see some people complaining and asking to switch.

    Have fun on your trip.

I wouldn't subject a stranger to not being able to recline on an overnight flight. I think maybe you and your partner, if possible, need to trade off being stuck not being able to recline. eta- what about putting dd1 behind the baby?

On an overnight flight, I would put my RF child behind someone in my own family. Typically we have older DD sit in front of younger DD.

But on an airplane, there is not as much need to RF as in a car. I would consider putting them FF if they are over 1 year.

I would put your dd2 behind your dd1 if possible. Not being able to recline on an over night flight would suck.

Either that or FF the child if it is possible to do so using the seat you have.

We always take the seat in front/behind the kids when traveling with family. We take the hit.

Unless my DC was in an infant bucket, I have FF the seat for the flight. Both DS and DD were happy to go back to RF in the car.

I had DS RF in an infant seat on a plane last month - the passenger in front kept looking back at us because they couldn't recline their seat. I bought a ticket for DS' seat, so I didn't feel guilty. I wouldn't be comfortable having someone else not be able to recline on an overnight flight especially if I could inconvenience someone in my family instead. GL

If the child is not in an infant seat and over 1 then I'd forward face, esp. if you can't put the baby behind one of your family members.
