Another yes here. We used to have an undermount sink. Our house now does not have one, and I HATE the sink. There is always crud around it that I just cannot get to well enough to get really clean. With an undermount, you can just scrape things right over the side into the sink. You might need to clean under the rim, but things don't get caught up there the way they do around a top-mount sink.

I sold plumbing before staying home.

    Undermount YES no question

If cast iron you want it mounted with rails to allow removal if at all needed. One solid surface counter top method is plywood, sink, countertop and in the small chance you have issue with the sink agtting it out and replacing it in that method sucks.

But.....yes. definitely go for the undermount.

Check out www.marble.com, they have locations in a few places. If you're near one of their locations, i'd HIGHLY recommend them!

We used the same place (but we're in the same location as Laura, so I can't speak to any other locations)--definitely love having the undermount! It's so nice to be able to sweep things into the sink, and the clean lines are so much more appealing. Also, our house has been on the market, and several potential buyers wanted to know about the sink.

We have an undermount sink and it's great. If I had to do it over again, I would have gone with a big farmhouse sink.

    Totally worth it!
My parents are house shopping and my dad won't even look at houses with overmount (I don't even know if that's a word -- whatever the opposite of undermount is...) kitchen sinks. Seriously.
