Default how to dispose of old shampoos, etc...

I am clearing out my cabinets and have half used (or in some cases practically full!) bottles of shampoos, conditioners, and so on. What's the best way to get rid of them? I hate to dump them in the trash, as I would have done in the past, but it seems like a pain to empty and recycle them!

Call a local shelter and see if they would accept for donation.

If you're interested in keeping them and finding other uses, I use conditioner as shave cream, and have used shampoo to clean the toilet and shower, in a pinch!

I have used old shower gel and shampoo to clean the toilet, sinks and tub before. It works great AND smells good!

I was going to suggest donating. Or, call a friend and see if they can use it.

Shampoo -- if you use foaming hand soap dispensers, you can use the shampoo + water as your next refill. Soap is soap, after all! We actually buy shampoo for this purpose.

Conditioner -- I've heard it works well in place of shaving gel. Maybe worth a try?

Alright, I will have to try the shaving cream idea! (and shampoo as hand soap - great ideas!)

Freecycle. I have unloaded them on freecycle. I have sensitive skin and have often tried a new product and decided it was a no-go and freecycle has never let me down, LOL.

None of the places I worked would accept opened personal hygiene supplies for sanitary reasons (and because we did not want leaking stuff in storage, gooping up other things!) Though some shelters might due to extraordinarily restricted budgets.
