DD is going to a party on Saturday and isn't helping me with ideas. I do not know the little girl or her family well - she is a friend from preschool. Any generic ideas in the $15-20 range? For boy birthdays we have given legos or stomp rockets.

Heck, I'd say, go with the stomp rockets! Girls like playing a bit wild sometimes, too!

DD would love legos or a stomp rocket!
Our just-turned-5-year-old niece likes the "-Licious" books. If you get them anywhere but Target, they're $18.
She's also (I am told) into Littlest Pet Shop.
Our standard 5yo b-day gift this year (I have a 5yo DD) has been a small purse filled with "girly" stuff - Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers, a small mirror and brush, nail polish sometimes (if I know the parent and know they wouldn't mind), sunglasses, cute hair clips, candy, etc. Walmart (I know I know) has adorable little handbags in their regular Women's purse and jewelry section for $5! They are the perfect size for a little girl, but they don't look incredibly cheap.
Another fav for my girls/nieces has been these necklaces from etsy. It wouldn't work for tomorrow, but something to keep in mind.

I ordered several of these last year for stocking stuffers, and bought some extras to hand out in birthday gifts this year. The seller was wonderful to work with, and she let me pick the exact tile style, as well as the ribbon colors, initial font, etc. She was also super fast, and I was incredibly happy with the finished results.
Thank you! Lots of good ideas.
