    Default Stop giving us stuff!

    Dear MIL,

Its fine that you call our house even during the day when you know we are at work. Its fine that you practically forced us to tell you the sex of the baby. But please please please, stop trying to give us furniture. Do you not see we live in a condo and have everything purchased already? Please, not a used crib!

Oh my. I'm so sorry, that sounds really terrible that she did not respect your wishes about the sex of the baby (among other things). Just a wild guess - is this her first grandbaby?

Hope you get thru the weekend alive.

Ah yes, hoarding by proxy. I am familiar with this, it really stinks. With my hoarder nothing seems to work, so I just say thanks and take everything to the Goodwill. I really do think it is a compulsion. They just cannot pass a useful item up. Ugh.

The gender/card thing would send me over the edge!

Seriously, I think your MIL might be a little on the crazy side. When I was a kid we got an answering machine because my grandmother used to call like this. And she was bi-polar so she'd call during a downswing. And call and call and call. Like 60 times a day. My heart goes out to you, it is positively unnerving. I'd suggest screening calls and turning off the ringer especially once Baby gets here.

Please tell me that your husband has at least asked her to stop doing these things and that she has ignored him? I hope he and his siblings are not just standing by and accepting this without at least trying to take some action.

DH says that his dad is the one driving and he wont let her bring a bunch of furniture over.

I think I'd be using call forwarding and having him answer the phone to her during the day so he could get an idea of how much work it is!
