Default A dog hit my car! (He is ok)

Yes, you read that correctly, a dog ran into my car. I didn't hit a dog, he hit me and the damage is substantial. He was a Great Dane! At first I was just worried about the dog. But now, since his owner insists that he is fine, I am just annoyed. I hurt! Now I will be without a car for God knows how long, plus I have to pay the deductible. Plus the insurance company "changed their mind" and are no longer replacing DD's Britax seat. Should I replace it? Grrr seriously, idiot, buy a leash!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for reading! Car seat advice would be wonderful!

Did the dog's owner offer to pay for some or all of your expenses? I certainly would have if it had been me! You could probably take them to small claims court.

Um, how fast was that thing going?!
I'm glad the dog is okay, but that totally sucks about your car.

oh no, well I'm glad that the dog is alright but it sucks about your car. I've BTDT recently with having to get my car repaired and being car-less for about ten days. Was your daughter sitting in her car seat at the time of the accident? My son was sitting in his Britax car seat during the accident, and so I decided to replace his car seat with a Britax frontier (it safely secures kids from 25 pounds - 100 pounds (in the booster position)). I think it's recommended for kids 2 years old and up though.

My daughter was in her seat. The dog was going so fast that I did not even see him. The owner says he is not himself will be OK. My insurance company will go after him, I'm sure. I'm so glad that DD was rear-facing! She seems fine! I hurt a little though. I am super annoyed that the insurance co. said they would replace the seat and then changed their mind!

I'm glad that your DD is alright. Did the insurance company say why they changed their mind? My AAA insurance may possibly give a reimbursement for my child's new car seat. Do you have AAA coverage in addition to your car insurance? I think AAA gives up to $250 in damaged goods during an accident, depending on your coverage.

You could always sue the Great Dane's owner for the carseat and deductible. Or just send a bill for it. That sucks! How fast were you/it going? Glad you, dc, and the dog are fine!

    Yikes, I'm sorry!
Tell the insurance put in writing that they will assume all liability with your daughter and her seat should it fail in a future crash.
That alone will get them to replace it...

My SIL's dog hit a car and damaged two panels of the mini van and was unhurt. Her home owners insurances payed the entire claim without question.

Ask for her homeowners policy info.

I don't understand? Does your car have frame damage? Did you slam on your breaks to avoid hitting the dog? Where did the dog hit your vehicle... front bumper? What a crazy scenario. Sorry you have to deal with all that.
