Question Can we do a quick re-cap of the different Britax convertibles?

DD is 16 months but has always been very tall (around 98th percentile) and kinda heavy to go along with that (at least in the tummy) . She's currently in a MA in my car and a BV in DH's car (both RF). I'd like her to stay RF until at least 2, but I read online today that the MA only goes to 35 pounds RF; is that true? I'm pretty sure she was around 28-29 lbs. at her last appt., so I'm worried she'll get to 35 too quickly! If so, I'm wondering what to put her in once she goes over 35 pounds (not sure if that'll happen first, or if she'll get 'too tall' first), as I'd like to keep her RF. Could you please explain the different Britax seats that would work in our situation, or recommend another type so I can keep her RF?

    Thanks!

Britax convertibles rear face to 35 pounds. The SK Radian 80SL and Radian XTSL rear face to 45 pounds. The SK Radian 65SL, the Complete Air and the Graco MyRide rear face to 40 pounds. This is the reason I sold my BLVD and got the XTSL.

Really nice seats, maybe a touch harder to install than the Marathons, especially RF, but definitely a good choice for a heavier kiddo, and tall enough to make it to the limits (my dd was 45 pounds at age 6 and I only have a picture of her FF at that age, but if she'd been RF and settled down into the seat, she still would have had an inch of hard seat shell over her head...so a heavier, shorter kid, *easily* can make it rearfacing to 2, even 4 comfortably, in that seat). The My Ride is more affordable, a little shorter, but won't break your budget and fits even huge kids RF to age 3.

Good luck, and kudos for wanting to keep your DD RF to 2+ (hang out a little longer with your current seats, 35 pounds may still be months away or longer, if you're lucky!)

FWIW, my DD was around 30lbs at her 2 yr. well check (so at 16 mos. was probably around 26-28lbs), at her 3 yr. well check she was 32lbs, and now at almost 4 yrs. old she's maybe 35lbs. We didn't know the benefits of rear facing when we moved her around at 12 mos. old., but she could've made it till almost 3 in a 33lb rated rear facing Marathon. If we'd had one that RFed until 35lbs she most likely would've made it way past 3 rfing.

DD is 2 1/2 and 33 lbs now (our MA RF to 33 lbs instead of 35). So, I do think you have some time (at least a year more in that seat RF before your DD reaches the RF limit).
