Awesome! Funny, I was just thinking about her the other day. One of our horses suddenly started refusing to enter the wash stall in the barn, even though he'd been in there several times before. Something is obviously freaking him out, and it wasn't there before. So I've been studying the stall, trying to see it like Temple Grandin does!

Yes, yes, yes!! My DS with autism is 4.5, uses words at his school and sometimes at home (come on little guy!) but he sure can read! He studies things so intensely I can't wait to find out what is going on in that wonderful little mind of his!

Thank you everyone for the kind words and encouragement. It's so good to be able to share my happiness for DS here.

DS is still too young to really understand what it means to have autism. But it is definately part of his self-identity already. He does know that it means he thinks differently than other kids and it makes some things a lot harder for him. But we also tell him that his autism is why he reads so well and is so good at math. I'm grateful that Temple Grandin and other adults with autism can be positive role models for him.

DS, age 11 and always amazing
