Thanks. Is this for a 6 year old though (or a younger child)?

Is this the insert for the Nalgene bottle that you mentioned ?

This is what my kids use. http://www.target.com/Thermos-Intake.../dp/B002VJX4C4
The spout is smaller and the lip pops up and stays back when the button is depressed. There is a little latch that goes over the button so keep it closed in their bag or whatever. It also has a little hook they can use to attach it to a pack with a carabiner.

Yes. This would be fine for a 6 yr. old. It's a 1/2 liter in size. You can also get a .75 and a 1.0L as well if you prefer.

The link to the insert is the one I was referring to. We have at least 1/2 dozen of the nalgene bottles with the inserts and use them all the time.

I sent this one with my older DD to Girl Scout camp last year: http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-18-Oun...d_bxgy_k_img_b

It was easy to use and simple for her to open and refill herself.
