Frustrated - Amazon pre-order

I ordered Wii Super Mario Galaxy 2 on pre-order last week (was released Sunday the 23rd). I figured it would be here by now, despite what the delivery estimate said, and this is why: I did pre-order for Princess & the Frog and it was releasing on a Tuesday. The delivery estimate said Friday, but it arrived on Tuesday. SO I got the impression it was kind of a perk of pre-ordering.

Now my tracking says it's coming by USPS and it has left Lexington, KY...and no other updates. That was on the 23rd. The delivery estimate is June 1st, and I am pissed.

Does anyone know any tricks to dealing with their pre-order process? I am wondering how to handle it in the future. For now I think we will go buy it and I will return the Amazon one as soon as it arrives?

It really depends how they ship it. They probably shipped your Princess and Frog DVD UPS. And now they are using regular mail to ship for Wii game. Regular mail is awful with tracking information. You really only see an update when it gets to your local post office.

I think the trick is this: If you want it or expect it fast, pay for the faster shipping. If you choose Free-SuperSaver shipping, you will get it the cheapest way it is for them to send it. And that could be USPS, which takes longer.

You'll have to pay for shipping to return the Amazon one. Unless you plan to return it to the place you buy the new one from today.

We pre-ordered the same game and it arrived several days ago but we have Amazon Prime (free 2 day shipping).

I wanted to go buy one and return the Amazon one to the store with the store receipt, but DH thinks somehow the store will be able to tell we did not buy it from them (probably Gamestop)? I didn't know enough on the subject to dispute him, because I don't know if there are special ways they track video game purchases (because of the restrictions on returning if opened or after a certain date, etc)

My SO and I rent games, so I'm not 100% certain, but I don't think the games from Amazon come with barcode price stickers on them, and the ones from Gamestop or another store would have the sticker on the shrinkwrap. And if you take the wrap off, they won't take it back. That might be what your DH means.
