Lets talk lawn care!

Just moved into a house that nobody has lived in almost a year.Lots of weeds and grass(40% weed, 60% grass)

I just scheduled a few lawn care companies to come and give me estimates to get my lawn healthy and beds cleaned.

Explain to me weed killing/control organic vs chemicals?
Cost?

not sure what the companies will tell you, but I can tell you what DH did with out lawn. our house was empty for a year and the previous owner never took care of it.....

He made sure when he cut it to keep it on the longer side, to help choke out the weeds. he also put down grass seed a lot and followed the typical weed 'n feed schedule that you can buy at lowes and stuff.
