Default Razor scooters. What is the difference?

DS has been wanting a scooter. He is going to be 6 and has never had one before (he does ride a bike currently with training wheels). What is the difference between all the razor scooters? Are the more inexpensive ones just as good as the more expensive ones?

I don't know...I got tired of obsessing about that stuff and just bought a cheap Razor at Target. It works well and ds1 has fun. Is a more $$ better?? I don't know. But, this is good enough. I learned this lesson after $150 on a kid bike when the $30 KMart special a friend has was easier to use.

I didn't understand why there are different prices. I figured a scooter is a scooter. Do they have go gas on them to make them more expensive? I just want a basic scooter and razor seemed to be a popular brand. DS is going to the store to try one out to make sure he really does want to use it before I buy something.

I don't quite understand the differences either. DS has this one and we love it.

I like it because it has a wooden/fiberglass platform, most are all metal. I've also noticed that some have 2 wheels and others 3. We went with 2 because DS has good balance. Otherwise I think 3 wheels would be easier. I can't find them on the website now but I know I saw them at Costco online a few months ago.

ETA found the other one we were looking at - it's here

At 6, I'd say you definitely want to go with two wheels. The three wheels are more for preschoolers.

We ended up getting ds the Razor A5. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...t_adv_XSG10001

It is more expensive, but dh chose it for ds over other Razor models because (1) it has bigger wheels so it handles bumpy sidewalks. etc better and it goes faster, and (2) it has a higher weight rating and I believe a handlebar that adjusts to be taller than the other models so if ds wants to ride it longer he can (he is a tall kid!).

We got a Razor from Amazon, mainly b/c it was pink. LOL.

As I understood the reviews, just go with a basic one until/unless they want to do tricks on it.

ETA: This is the one we have, the model is the A: http://www.target.com/13003A-PK-Razo...k&frombrowse=1
