Pain during cycle? Need advice

I'm on day 5 of my cycle, and I'm experiencing severe pain in what I'm guessing is my right ovary. I usually have cramping during the first 2 days of my period when the flow is super heavy, but this is like nothing I remember experiencing. I took some ibuprofen and it finally kicked in, but I'm still not feeling great. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I called my primary care dr. and he got me in for a pelvic ultrasound tomorrow, but I had one a few months ago and there weren't any abnormalities so I'm not sure what to think.

It could be a cyst in your ovary. I have it happen when I ovulate and I get a cyst in my left ovary and it pops and hurts like h3ll.
