Default Dining Table: Ikea or Costplus?

Looking for advice on durability of Ikea and Costplus furniture. Also pine vs harder woods...

We're buying a new dining table to replace one that was damaged in a house leak. We've narrowed it down to Ikea and Costplus.

Anyone have experience with pine dining tables from Ikea? We're looking at the Stornas table and are worried pine will look terrible in a short time since it's such a soft wood. Any thoughts on pine dining tables?

Our other option is Costplus, the Tuscan extension table. I'm not crazy about the rustic look on this, nor the fact that it has non-storing end leaves. Anyone have any experience with this particular table or others from Costplus?

We have a table from Costplus (World Market) and I LOVE it. It still looks great after 5 years of heavy use (3 boys- we use it for everything- meals, crafts, playing, laptops, etc). We have ours in the kitchen and never use our dining room set since the kitchen set is so nice/ large.
"Someday, I am going to go to bed without toys on the floor and sippys in my sink. Things will stay where I put them and I can have nice, fragile items on display. But when I do, I will look around with a wistfullness in my heart and miss the days where vibrant imaginations ran wild and there was evidence of life happening around me all the time!"

We have a solid wood table from costplus and it is STURDY! It is an old Talavera style that has different color stone down the center of the table. It is a very heavy table and has really held up. We had one water stain from my husband but I was able to remove it with one of those water stain remover cloths from Lowes. I would definitely buy from cost plus again. Plus if you get it on sale it's a great deal.

Hands down, I recommend Cost Plus furniture over Ikea. We have the Lugano dining set from Cost Plus, and it is beautiful and solid. Love it! I swear that many pieces from Cost Plus rival pricier places like Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn in terms of quality, but for a fraction of the cost. But Cost Plus and Ikea have different looks, IMO. Cost Plus is more hearty/rustic. Ikea has a more modern, contemporary look.

    We have this table:

I have Cost Plus dining room and living room furniture, and I love it. We've had it for 6 years and it's held up beautifully.

I have the Lugano table from CostPlus as well and I can't say enough good things about it. It's awesome. We've had it for 7 years, and it still looks great.

I love the look of the World Market tables; however, we're searching for counter-height options. Would anyone know of a place that has a decent selection of counter height tables in a similar style? I love the weathered, farmhouse, hearty/beefy table style...TIA!

Have you seen the latest Costco Magazine ad? Says there is this counter height wood table (in stores only). Don't know the price, but worth taking a look. Haven't been to the store myself, but it looked nice in the magazine.

It is $899.99 at our local Costco. I'm not a fan of counter height tables, but it looked nice.
