Default If going to a nice event, do you match fingernails and toenails?

We have a fundraiser for DD's school tomorrow - cocktail dress attire. I am wearing strappy sandals and am going to have a mani/pedi today. I like a French manicure on my fingernails, but not on my toenails. I don't really want color on my fingernails, but prefer color on my toenails. Is it really a fashion faux pas to have my fingernails not match my toenails?

I'm thinking a French manicure looks more natural, so it would be OK to put color on my toes?

Edited to clarify: I don't want two different colors - just French on fingers, color on toes.

yes!!! I wouldn't do two different colors (fingers and toes) but I think a french on hands and color on toes is fine. I see people doing it all the time.

French mani and color on toes is fine. There's something about french on toes that just looks weird to me.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so!

I never match my toes and hands. I like a neutral on the hands and a color that pops on the toes. I am not a fan of a french manicure on the toenails. I like toenails that are cut short, so I don't like the emphasis on the white toenail. So I think your idea of a french manicure on your hands and a color on your toes sounds great.

I thought toes and fingers aren't "supposed" to match anyway. I swear I've read that in fashion mags. I never get manis, because my fingernails are short and weak, best not to draw any attention to those.

Nope. They are in 2 different parts of the body. I aim for the fingers to look good with the outfit or a neutral like a french manicure. Toenails? Whatever color I am drawn to.
