Hmm, I was going to suggest going up to the boardwak in Rehoboth but that's more for the grownups than 1.5yo. Eat at Dogfish Head, walk around and window shop, get ice cream. Outlet shopping up in Rehoboth too. The little ones? Chill on the beach!!

Bethany has a small little boardwalk area, but other than that, not a lot to do. But as PP said, Rehoboth is not that far and it has a larger boardwalk area. But my kids were perfectly happy with Bethany's boardwalk. There's ice cream, a toy store, a pizza place, a bookstore, etc. What else do you need? And depending on where you are staying in Bethany, Rehoboth may be only a few minutes further.

We did go to eat at Dogfish Head once, but DH and I their 60 and 90 Minutes Ales. The line was longggg.

There is a wate rpark in Fenwick Island called Thunder Lagoon that is great for little kids. There is a beach entrance to the splash pool and if you go early it isn't very crowded. There is also a lazy river. You pay by the hour which makes sense with toddlers since they will probably only want to be there a couple of hours at a time.
It is really nice for young kids since the rides are really geared towards children under 10 so no self respecting teenager would want to go.

They may be a little young - but Funland at Rehoboth is really affordable for rides/games!! Not overpriced like some amusement parks (check out their website).... they also have a bunch of games like the duck pond ($1 & $2) where everyone gets a prize. My 3 & 5 year old loved it a few weeks ago - and my 1 year old just loved looking at all the lights/sounds!

There is also a pretty nice playground in Bethany but there is NO shade so make sure you go early in the day or late in the afternoon.

    Unrelated Hint:
If you are taking 50 from Annapolis. There is a stretch of road after you go over the Bay Bridge where there are no gas stations for a long period of time. Once you finally get to a station there often is a line that often goes out the door for the bathroom. There is a little Nature Center about a mile off the main road that has a visitors center and a bathroom. We stopped there on our way to Bethany last year and it was a great place to make a pit stop and let DD1 run around for 15 min or so. It's called Mill Creek Wildlife Sanctuary.

If you're looking for places to eat, I recommend Cottage Cafe. We always hit them up when we stay in Ocean City (we're on the north end, so Bethany is a quick pop up! )

There are definitely some rides at Funland that a 1.5 yo can handle. Just go at an off time to avoid the crazy crowds. We went at opening one day last year (we go a lot since my parents live in Bethany) and it was great.

There is a playground about a mile (if that) out 26. You take a right at the light next to the school (can't remember the name of the street- West?) and it's down a couple blocks on the right. It is very shady, and my kids had fun there. The one in town you definitely need to wait until the sun goes down a bit!

Another thing you can do is pick up one of the really small baby pools and fill it up on the beach. We put it under an umbrella and my kids have had hours of fun playing in the water without having to be in the ocean or the hot sun.

    Have fun!!
SAHM to my 3 growing kids. They keep me so busy I don't have nearly as much time to hang out on the BBB!
