Default Belts: What's more versatile - skinny or thicker?

I'm looking at some pretty belts at Eileen Fisher (my new favorite store). I'm trying to decide which would be more versatile - I'm really super casual, but in the winter I like to wear some long sweater tunics with a belt.

Here are the two belts I'm considering:

Of course I'm open to an alternative. I just want something that is quality and classic, as I'm not one to buy many belts

And their new sweater that I think I must have, and would be interested in wearing with and without a belt:

For work, I prefer skinny. For weekend wear with sweaters, I prefer wider ones. I have one similar to this one:

Good tip. Maybe I just need a thick one then. I actually have one that I bought last year, but the back of it isn't smooth enough and so it gets "caught" on my sweaters, which I hate.
