Default Our town "postponed" TOT to later in the week!

WTH? They postponed TOT in our town b/c we got some snow and some parts of town (they said 20%) do not have power (we do and the whole neighborhood at DD's school does).

What would you do? Wait til the new date? Go tonight? We got a call at 1:30 through the school system's phone system so only people with school aged kids are informed. So if you have a pre-schooler/no kids you would not have gotten a call.

Our neighborhood is fine, little snow, and our neighborhood has power.

They way I look at it the neighbors that are retired etc. will not be prepared for TOT on an alternate day.

Thoughts? We have yet to inform DD, they did not tell them at school (ETA, yes they had school today).

I'm considering waiting a bit to see if we get some kids and then stopping by the neighbors that would want to say hi, but wouldn't know about the TOT postponement. I asked at pick-up and different families were on the fence about what to do.

I would go ToTing, at least to a couple of houses. It has to be done on Halloween! I'm sure many people have candy stocked already. If the neighbors seem offended that you're going ToTing not on the designated day, you can always turn back. It doesn't seem like it's a hazard with the little snow you're getting, or is it?

This is our dilemma too (see my BP), and they are delaying until next Monday! We got the call at about 3:30. I heard that some n'hoods were going ahead and doing it anyway. I drove by one and saw a bunch of kids.

We are doing our n'hood, since there are only 4 other houses and I know nothing is down along our street. DH might take the girls onto the next street. But I'm hoping it will be warmer next week!!!

I am waiting to hear there is no school again tomorrow - unless they can fix whatever hazard is out there before the buses hit the road.

Oh that's a bummer especially since you had school today. ToT is going on today in our town. Power came back to all the schools last night so there was school today. My parents still do not have power (35 minutes north of here) and she said that the town cancelled ToT. I asked here are you sure they didn't just postpone it and she said the message they got said cancelled. Which seems weird since wouldn't there be a lot of upset kids?

Well we ventured out to about 3 houses. One neighbor didn't seem to know (elderly) that it was postponed. The other two knew, but had their candy ready and lights on. The main reason we we went out was b/c my sister was visiting from out of state and was planning on TOTing with DD (in costume). Anyway there were a dozen or so middle/high schoolers wandering around...we'll go out tomorrow, but it seems so anticlimatic!
