Unless you have a condition that precludes lifting (bleeding, incompetent cervix, etc), lift away. Do what's comfortable. Ask your OB if you have questions. Don't do anything that would hurt your back. Stop if anything hurts.
DS was about 35 lbs when I was pregnant with DD. I carried him up and down stairs frequently, including the day before I gave birth, and the day after I got home from the hospital.
We moved when I was 5 mos and 8 mos pregnant (into and out of temp housing while we were building) w/DS and I lifted and carried heavy things both times. When we moved the second time, I was *hoping* to put myself into labor, but no such luck. I also shoveled snow that week, twice, and he stayed put until induced a few weeks later.

No problems unless it becomes uncomfortable. We have pregnant women in my body pump classThe only limits they have are (1) no lying on flat bench (2) watch heart rate during cardie-intensive songs (3) stop if your body tells you to stop.
DD - barely 5
DS - almost 3
I was one of them.I had to do a make up at 38 weeks and the people in there were *freaked* out that I was in the class. I reassured them that I had been doing it at a different time, it was ok! But, boy, I got a lot of help that day!
OP, you have been lifting your toddler this whole time so it isn't a new activity. You wouldn't want to start taking something like Body Pump but the things you have already been doing are fine to keep doing unless you notice a problem.

My Dr says to keep up with exercise and exertion that you were doing pre-pregnancy unless it doesn't feel good. The only thing she said was to be careful about falling or getting hit by a car and to be aware that with all of the hormones it is easy to overextend. So, I do spinning now instead of biking outside. That's the only change I've made - I'm very active and still do weight training, etc. I'm just really careful about my form.
I picked up my 38+ pound toddler until I was around 34 weeks and then I just couldn't do it anymore. My OB said I could carry her until it was uncomfortable to pick her up.
