Default MA Moms, where did you get your fam rm furniture?

We'll be in the market for new family room furniture (hopefully) soon. I'm not sure where to look. Our style is more traditional than modern. I don't think I want leather - I don't know why. Maybe b/c Dh has a leather recliner, so I don't want to feel like we have a whole room of it, I guess.

I've looked at Jordan's, PB, Boston Interiors, Macy's furniture (online only, haven't been to the store) Circle Furniture. Where am I missing? Has anyone ever been out to the Gardener outlets for furniture? It's probably around 2hrs away which seems like a PITA.

As far as pricing, I don't really know. Right now I have the PB Grand Roll Upholstered in everyday suede couch and chair in my cart, and it's $3200 before tax (ouch) but we'd use a 10% discount and then gift cards from Amex points to lessen the pain. Then we'd have to get a coffee table, possibly side table, and media console - these are pretty beaten up. So I'm guessing $5k for everything? But of course I'd like to find a deal!!!

For $$$ but chic, can't beat West Elm.

Cardi's and Bernie & Phyl's are both similar to Jordan's.

I have been to Gardiner - it's fun if you're in the neighborhood - but really not worth a trip. Nothing bowled me over. Just a town with a bunch of furniture stores in it.

If you're looking for a deal, look into Circle Furniture's warehouse sales. They can be overwhelming (line up ahead of opening time, dash around when the doors open to snag stuff) but can be worthwhile. The outlet is located in Acton; I think they have their special sales twice a year. You can also check them out for deals outside of those special sales.

I've been to Gardener also; our dining table and chairs come from there. We had a great time looking through many stores; it helped DH and me hone in on what we were looking for, and the kids found it more entertaining than I thought. I think it's probably not worth the two-hour drive for you, though, at least not in terms of finding great deals. We did it during the summer and turned it into a day trip, visiting some interesting sites in the area (can't even begin to recall what those were now!), but we're closer to it than you.

Is there a West Elm B&M store?? I always thought it was only online!

I had forgotten about Benie & Phyl's, been there. Meh.

And I just looked at Gardener on the map - yah, it's about an hour and 10mins away, I have NO idea why I thought it was 2hrs!

We've Bought from Jordan's, Macys and Bernie & Phil's. All have held up great. We have a tv console and shelves (modern/contemporary) from Jordan's and it was priced ok, but while they look good, the quality of wood (pressed? veneer?) isnt anything great. You may also have luck at Ethan Allen. There is also a crate and barrel outlet in Kittery, ME that had lots of furniture last time I went in.

Our dining room furniture is from Gardner. I do really like it. It's mission style and very nice. There was a ton of stuff there and if it's not too far it can be fun to scope it out and maybe you'll fall in love with something. We actually also fell in love with a grandfather style clock but it was cash and carry—I wouldn't recommend that!

That being said, right now our living room furniture is from Jordan's but...we just had to buy a bunch of new furniture and I really didn't want to pay so much and I really like some of the furniture we got at Bob's Discount Furniture! I despise the commercials and find the pitch incredibly annoying, but we really couldn't beat the price of the furniture! Our bedroom set is currently from there and so is our kitchen set and both have held up fine so far and are pretty nice.

We got our living room furniture at Furniture World in Stoneham. My parents have been buying from them for years so we were confident that we would find something (reasonably priced ) from there. We not only found the perfect couch and ottoman for our space but ended up getting a great dining room table set too!

I don't know where in MA you are but Cardi's is great, especially with kids. I bought their protection plan and it covers anything kids can do to furniture.
