Default need P+PT for a friend's wife (sad) third update

update #3 (in a nutshell she was tranfered to a tertiary hospital last night./early this am and went to OR with general surgery/ortho/plastics/GYN. Today they had to amputate part of her leg and may/will have to amputate the rest soon. This is her caring bridge site. I'm so sad for her! But overall she is stable and should survive....

    update #2
the infection seems to have stopped and she is off BP support meds and the swelling has gone down. Things are looking a lot more hopeful! She will have a long road ahead since they have debrided out a lot of her thighs etc and she is still on the ventilator... but overall a fantastic turn around (she had been given a 30% chance of survival)...

    update:
she is a little better this evening. Her husband is a little more hopeful. Thanks for all the P+PT!

I have a friend from nursing school who I still sort of work with (I'm a house coordinator, he's an ED charge nurse). His wife had their 3rd baby 4 days ago and she now is in CCU with necrotizing fascititis-she is in very, very bad shape. It's bizare-she had a very quick vaginal birth, no complications but now is critically ill. So if you have any P+PT to send their way I'm sure they would appreciate it. They have a 5 yo and a 2.5 yo and now an infant..

How awful! I can't imagine, it does seem bizarre, but the first thing that came to mind was that it must be a nosocomial infection if she got it before she even left the ob ward! I hope she will be ok.

P&PT for her and her family. I have heard so many horror stories about hospital acquired infections that are just devastating. I can't imagine what they are all going through.

I'm amazed.
