Default Help me dress DD's for special event!

I never had an issue dressing DD1 and took great pleasure in hunting for the perfect outfit at a price I could afford. But now with DD2, I have to think about coordinating their outfits (this will be a picture intensive event - DH's military retirement). This is sooo much harder!!!!

The event is outdoors on the Friday before Easter. Therein lies issue #1: The weather. NC in the spring is totally unpredictable! Should be in the 60's but it has been in the 70's & 80's already this week. However, 3 years ago, we had a random cold snap and had days of 40's. I can compensate for DD1 with a little cardi over a dress but am trying to find layers for DD2.

DD2 will only be 6 weeks old. I am not looking to put her in some foofy dress. Comfortable, practical but still sweet and pretty. And no gowns. I would have to change her in to it when we arrive and change her again to drive to the reception (unless there is some trick I don't know about for carseats and gowns?)

DH (and about 100 other people) will be in desert cammies...so tan on tan, khaki, brown. I will be in God only knows what....black skirt probably and some sort of tee and jacket or twin set - whatever I can fit my fat, breastfeeding, 6 week post-partum body in to.

This is what I have come up with so far but I am not sold on the dress for DD1 - worried it is TOO dressy.

    For DD1:

For DD2 (the green and pink set at the back)

I wouldn't mind something more understated for them both. Love the solid color stuff like Baby Biscotti but it is out of my price range unless I Ebay but then have to find something for DD1, too.

I also have this for DD2 and could easily find something to coordinate for DD1: http://www.ebay.com/itm/190649539383...84.m1439.l2649 but again, it could end up too hot for this!

Easter is just days after and they will both be wearing Ebayed Baby Lulu for Easter (I can't have them formal and fussy two special events in a row!)

ETA: I would love to have DD2 in a little white set and maybe even DD1 in a white dress but it IS before Memorial Day...ugh...stupid antiquated social norm.

I would probably do a bubble suit for DD2 with a little sweater in case it is cool and a coordinating dress for DD1. I like to buy things on sale from Janie & Jack or Strasburg for special events (I can't stomach the full prices but the sale prices can be good).

Okay, so I am certainly no fashion diva, but I think the yellow might look washed out next to the desert camis. I agree bubble for DD2 would be cute

Congratulations to your dh and I appreciate his service and your sacrafices for our country.

You mentioned wanting something more subtle and I thought of this dress from NextDirect:

Maybe with something like this for your baby?
