In movies, are there any "rules" when it comes to actors and kissing?
Can the actors kiss with tongue?

I have wondered this. I know that one of the actors from the first Star Trek said that open mouthed kissing was completely out of the question at that time.....but I can't remember where I read that.

as an aside, dbf and i watched an old movie a couple of years ago, 'hell's angels'. one of howard hughes' movies, old airplanes, world war, jean harlow. anyway, they did all this closed-mouth lip mashing kissing. looked really uncomfy, like it would hurt your lips against your teeth & wasn't at all sexy. so sometimes i give him a 'hell's angels' bj - some closed-mouth mashing with lots of moving my head around, but not much fun. it's really funny, though, and we laugh and snort. just saying 'hell's angels' has gotten funny.

I wonder if it varies--depending on TV vs. Movie, and who the target audience is. Maybe sometimes the script calls for it? Maybe the actors discuss it ahead of time?
I remember once reading about a soap actor who was fired due to repeated sexual harassment complaints from other co-stars. One of the complaints was his use of "excessive tongue" in love scenes.
