Default First movie suggestions for almost 3-year-old?

DS1 is 2yrs 9months and doesn't watch much TV... as we don't have family around this year I thought I'd give him a treat and let him watch his first ever movie on Christmas Day. Any suggestions, particularly festive ones? He's a sensitive soul, so anything with sad undertones would probably not be ideal. I thought the Muppet Christmas Carol might be fun, but having never seen it myself I'm not sure...

I would also welcome suggestions as my almost 3 year old has never seen a movie either. We stream Netflix about twice a week for 15 min. at the most. So, I'd like to sit down and watch something with her but don't know what. I used to watch Home Alone but I don't know if it's appropriate for a 3 year old. She might get scared of the robbers.

It's not festive, but I think Cars (the first one) is really nice for young kids.

DD1 is 32 months and very sensitive. To date, the only movie that hasn't been classified as scary per DD1 is The Tigger Movie. Winnie The Pooh in general is very gentle. I would not let her watch home alone as she would be really upset that the mom and dad were missing. We tried Elf, but she wasn't interested. The original Grinch cartoon was a bomb as "that green boy is too scary."

ETA- she does like some of the muppet movies but thinks the villains are scary and gets upset when they hit (which muppets do a lot)

Do you mean at home or in the theater?

Just yesterday I let my kids watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" for the first time. They LOVED it. I thought the Grinch might be a little scary but they didn't seem to think so. The younger two enjoyed it much more than Charlie Brown Christmas, which I think was a little too subtle for them.

Just based on my own experience a full length feature might be two long for your kid. But if you want to try it I'd go with Totoro. There's the old version My Neighbor Totoro, but I think the dubbing is terrible. Go for the newer Disney version with Dakota Fanning and her sister. It's very gentle, super cute, not scary at all.

I would skip the full features and just choose a festive movie. My kids enjoy:

    Frosty the Snowman
    How the Grinch Stole Christmas
    Rudolph the red nosed reindeer
A year without a santa claus
    Mickey's Christmas Carol
Winnie the pooh (A very merry Pooh year or Seasons of giving)
AF wife and SAHM of three

or A Very Monkey Christmas? It's a PBS Curious George movie, nothing scary at all and not too long.
