    Although it is sad, your DD will not notice the difference unless you point it out. Most toddlers are very bewildered at their first birthday party at some point. And the smaller the crowd, the less opportunity for drama!

    It's harder to get people together in the summer, if that's any consolation.

    Oh no, that really sucks. Good for your friends and the grandparents - they got to shower a bunch of love and attention on your LO!

    I'm so sorry! I hope your DD loves having her very most special grownups make a fuss over her, though.
