Default Looking for Scary, Suspenseful, Psychological Thriller - type BOOK RECS...

Looking for Scary, Suspenseful, Psychological Thriller type book recommendations...

I would prefer stand-alone books. I don't want to get involved in a series.

    Thanks so much!!

Anything by Lisa Gardner. Some are series but you don't need to read them in order. ETA: Many books by Joy Fielding fit your description. Also, I really like the Rizzoli and Isles series by Tess Gerritsen- very scary and suspenseful and much better than the tv show. It is best to read the series, though. Can you tell this is my favorite genre?

Have you already read 11/22/63 by Stephen King? (That came out last year, so you likely have read it.)

Also try The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. I've read bits, but not the whole thing.

Actually, you might be OK with picking up some Neil Gaiman - his writing isn't typically serial, but it is suspenseful and often scary.

I tend to pick up stuff more in the sci-fi/fantasy genre, so I'm not much help here!

Michael Crichton's books: Andromeda Strain, Prey, Sphere (these all have a sci-fi edge), and, an old classic, The Great Train Robbery.

Into the Darkest Corner (Elizabeth Haynes). I lost sleep trying to read the book as fast as possible.

I second the recommendation for Lisa Gardner books. They are very scary.
