Default Weekend Mommy and Me trip ideas in SoCal?

DH and DS recently went on a 3 day road trip and had a great time. I thought that as a surprise, I'd like to take DD on a weekend mommy and me getaway. Unfortunately, I can't figure out where to take her! We live in SoCal (LA area), and I'm willing to drive within a couple hours' drive. I'd like to go somewhere where we can relax and just hang out by the pool and in the room, but also do some sort of activities, whether it be shopping, a mommy and me spa visit, etc. I don't want to do Disneyland or any other theme parks because I don't find those very relaxing. LoL She likes shopping, manicures, glitter, music, room service, and all sorts of girly things. She's not into outdoor stuff like camping or hiking.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a cute mommy and me getaway in the SoCal area?

I would go to Palm Springs or La Quinta. This resort is supposed to be really great. http://www.rancholaspalmas.com/splashtopia Or La Quinta Resort http://www.laquintaresort.com/

The living desert might be a fun way to spend a day http://livingdesert.org/

there is outlet shopping near by http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=6

Other idea would be to go down towards San Diego. We really enjoyed staying in Carlsbad. If it is warm enough you could go to the beach. There is also outlet shopping down there http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=66

The Park Hyatt Aviara is supposedly lovely

My DH's cousin stayed at La Costa and loved it

There is also a Sheraton up by LEGOLAND or the Carlsbad Inn Beach resort http://www.carlsbadinn.com/

We enjoyed having dinner at Pizza Port http://www.pizzaport.com/ in the Carlsbad village http://carlsbad-village.com/directory/ .... after dinner we walked down a block or 2, to a little chocolate shop that had yummy goodies!

Thanks ladies! We do enjoy Palm Springs as a family, so it might be fun to do it just as a girls trip.

DD and I did Palm Springs this past weekend. It was a great trip. Santa Barbara could be fun too.

Electra, where did you and your DD stay? We normally stay at the Renaissance Esmeralda resort, but if we go, I'd like to try something different.

I live in San Diego but when we want to do a stay-cation, we head for Carlsbad or Coronado. Both areas have great walkable downtowns with lots of fun stuff to do. You could even take the train down from LA and there's a stop in Carlsbad so it's super convenient (plus I hear that part of the train route is gorgeous!)

I think a spa in Ojai would be fun.

There's a groupon for a resort at Catalina Island right now.

We stayed at the Saguaro. It's my new avatar actually! It was really a great trip for DD and me. We attended a softball tournament during the few days we were there. The pool is nice at the Saguaro, and it was really cute. It was not right in the walkable downtown Palm Springs area though. It was not really a resort either. More like a kitschy place that had been renovated to be much nicer, but still not a "resort".
