Default How teach mileage for job?

Do any of you need to track car mileage for your job for tax purposes? If so, any tips on how best to do it? Particular app, etc?

I used a small notebook and a pen. Column for date, starting and ending odometer readings.

I've done it two ways. The first time for job a kept track of mileage and odometer readings. Second time I just write down where I was going to/from. Then I do a google map check for distance and write that down. Since I was going to a a couple of dozen places regularly it was just simple that way. My husband does it that way for his own company now and the CPA says that is fine if you get audited. You don't need the start/end odometer readings, just total of who much a year you drive and how much is for work purposes if you are using it on your tax forms. So he just keeps track of where he goes on site on what day, which he does for his billing anyway.
