I would do baked beans (we like the vegetarian ones) and either potato salad or coleslaw or pasta salad.

A caprese salad could be yummy too ... fresh mozzarella, grape tomatoes, basil, EVOO, a little drizzle of balsamic, salt n pepper. serves with some sliced baguette.

I recently watched a Pioneer woman show and she made a coleslaw but added sliced bell peppers (red and yellow) and it looked pretty and delicious. I can't find it on her site but did find slaw with her BBQ pulled chicken sandwiches. This one has jalapenos in it, if you are making it for kids I might just leave the spicy out.

    ◾1/2 head Cabbage, Sliced Thin
◾1/2 head Purple Cabbage, Sliced Thin
◾1 whole Jalapeno, Halved Lengthwise And Thinly Sliced
    ◾1/2 cup Whole Milk
    ◾1/2 cup Mayonnaise
    ◾1 teaspoon White Vinegar
    ◾1 Tablespoon Sugar
    ◾1/4 teaspoon Salt
    ◾1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
◾2 cups Cilantro Leaves, Barely Chopped

Corn on the cob always goes over well with my kids.

I made a similar corn salad to this one and it was really tasty http://www.bhg.com/recipe/fresh-corn-salad/

Thanks everyone! I ended up making corn on the cob and just grabbed some macaroni salad from Whole Foods after attempting the recipe above. Turned out awful for me! I couldn't find the sweet and spicy pickles do a sweet older woman at the store told me to use doll relish and sweet relish. Anyone it was just yucky!

I make the asian broccoli slaw and it is always a hit. Also I'd have some fruit salad (especially for the kids). And have some chips and dip.

(changes: I use balsamic vinegar for my dressing instead of apple cider, and I use regular salted sunflower seeds).
