What a brave girl. Thinking of your family.
Just seeing this thread now. Heaping tons of P&PT for your DD and your family over the next few weeks. You guys have been through so much!

Thank you all for your thoughts and kind words. It means so much to have a support network all over the globe!
Last night was pretty rough with nausea and vomiting, which was terrifying with her mouth wired shut and a new tracheostomy. Our nighttime nurse was good when she was in the room, but she spent far too much time on her iPhone instead of watching DD. I couldn't sleep because I was scared she would start to vomit again and the nurse would miss it. My mom was able to sleep for about five hours and then take over for me so I could get a few hours. We are all feeling much better and less snappy this morning.
Abby is pleased with her new profile and the fact that her lips can touch, which they haven't been able to do in many years. She is obviously frustrated but is taking it like a champ. She was able to have some sprite earlier, but she coughed a bit afterwards. All liquids are on hold pending an eval from an SLP. She is communicating through her iPod right now while we wait for an iPad with a Text-to-speak app to arrive tomorrow from a relative (an SLP in another part of the state). She is being weaned off of IV pain meds and will try some oral (or maybe ng tube?) later.
Again, thanks for your thought and prayers. It means so much.
Great update! Hoping the recovery continues to go well and that you manage to get some sleep tonight!
Read your updates and will continue to send positive thoughts as she recovers and awaits her next surgery. (((Hugs)))
