Not at all, we did it! Our dining room was insanely small and we use the dining room table a lot, mostly for the kids for extra space for homework or crafts that are not super messy....i.e. nothing to drip on and ruin our hardwood floor. So we switched the rooms and put our sofa and chair in our small dining room. That area is now affectionately called the "cozy corner" which is a nice reading area. We had the chandelier switched to the other location and a ceiling light is now where it used to be.
