Randomly on the hot lunch rotation and is just school lunch variety.
The special lunch they do a few times a year is "grill day" where they really do fire them up outside the cafeteria and grill hotdogs and/or hamburgers.
Growing up we had three or four lunches a year that were outsourced lunches where you got to pre-order something like pizza or burgers from a local place. Always a treat.

Haha. We are an "other". Sometimes. My kids' school has a fundraiser every Friday. It is an opportunity to buy some kind of restaurant food (term used loosely) to earn a little money for the school. Last year the rotation was Domino's Pizza, Presto Pasta, Subway and a local beloved burrito place. I LOVE Fridays and my kids did too. Except for the pizza, which they didn't care for.

I voted yes, but pizza day is actually every Thursday from Dominoes. Fridays they bring in Chick-fil-a.

They do a couple of different types of pizza (stuffed crust, flatbread or whatever) but not specifically on Friday.

Our school pretty much rotates the menu every two weeks, so pizza is an option every other Friday.
When I was growing up, the Friday lunch option was always pizza or fish sticks. I just assumed it was a holdover from when Catholics didn't eat meat on Friday's, given the large Catholic population in our part of New Jersey.

My kids are in preschool, but they order Papa Johns once per week for those parents who want to pay for it rather than pack a lunch.

But they offer chocolate milk and desert on Fridays which the kids love. My middle only gets school lunch on Friday because of that.

No, but they do have pizza a couple of times a month. One of those times is Papa John's, usually the day after a fundraiser. The two meals I can always count on DD wanting to buy are pizza and breakfast for lunch. I think DS1 is going to be the same way.
