If your DS loves flags, the Ben Franklin Parkway in Philly is perfect. It's a grand thoroughfare modeled on the Champs Elysees and lined with flags from every country in the world, with name plaques identifying them all. Right on the way to either the Franklin Institute or the Academy of Natural Sciences, both of which are fun (and have reciprocity with lots of other museums if you have a membership where you live).

Also on the flags, though off the beaten path a little, South Broad Street (south of Washington Ave I think?) is lined with all the state flags. And actually that's on the way to the ballpark if you take the bus instead of the subway, might be fun to see!

Hit Federal Donuts in Philly for donuts (a.m.) or fried chicken (p.m.). Multiple locations.

My kids prefer the Camden Aquarium over the Baltimore Aquarium. It's in Camden, NJ. It's an extremely short drive from downtown Philly- just right over the Ben Franklin bridge. Have fun!

It's a long drive between the ballpark which is near the river over to Embassy Row in Dupont and DC traffic is never great. Unless flag spotting is on his must-do list I would save it for a trip when you have more time.

Thanks so much, guys! Had a great day in Philly despite yucky-ish weather. Did Reading Market for lunch (omg delicious), then walked thru city a bit and did ever inch of Ben Franklin Parkway for flags - DS was in heaven. On train to DC now
