Default New Booster--6 mo manuf. date--typical?

I just bought a new booster seat ordered online and it was manufactured 6 months ago. Is it typical to get one that old?

The convertible seat I ordered online in January of this year was manufactured August of last year, but I do not know if that is typical.

I have ordered 5 seats online since 2006 (Evenflo T5, Frontier 80, Britax BLVD70, RA55, and Frontier 90) and I think they have all been less than 2 months old when I received them. TBH though I would be more concerned about an infant seat or a convertible seat with a 6 yr. expiration date that you plan to use for two or three kids back to back than I would be a booster seat with a 9 yr. expiration, but that is just me.

I thought the Parkway had a 6 year expiration date. Is that not correct?

Very true! Ours is a Nextfit with an 8 year lifespan that we only plan to use for one child. And to be honest I didn't notice until we had had it for 6 months and I needed to flip it over to get the serial number to request the new style shoulder pads. If I had noticed right away I might have complained.

You are right, it is 6 yrs., which is a bummer, just assumed it was 9 yrs. like the Frontier!

My Foonf was a year old! It was a great deal ($217), but still pretty old.

Our EFTA's were 1 yr old...but we got them for $50. Even with a year lost, they were a steal. Not sure how'd I'd feel about 6 mo. I guess it would depend on the price I paid and how long I expect to be able to use it.

Yeah, depends on the booster. Some brands are made in batches (maybe all of them, but some brands just have much higher turnover and sellout so you always get a new one), and they just sell them down till they need to make a new batch. 6 months isn't terrible for a full-price seat, if it were older I'd hope you got it on sale!
