Default UPDATE:Which better sweater coat is better?

UPDATE: I ordered the older version of the better sweater coat from 6pm.com for a few reasons. Longer, creamier color rather than straight gray of this year's version. new: $179 (had a 20% off coupon) but $116 from 6pm. I like the brownish buttons on the older model because i think it'll make it work with my merrell captiva launch boots in brown...right? Thanks for all your help!

    Is this last year's? http://www.shoebuy.com/patagonia-bet...557751/1159050

and this the new version? http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/sho...8_10000001_-1_ I think I prefer this style, but with the creamier coloring of the other one.

Has anyone tried them both or prefer one over the other? I would likely be pairing it with these boots...http://www.shoebuy.com/merrell-capti...erproof/702776 Which would you pick, and have you seen them on sale anywhere?

I believe that the "better sweater" is a whole line of coats from Patagonia, so there are lots of styles. I have the second one, and I really like the length and lines of it. I think it is a little more sophisticated than a short pea coat (well, as sophisticated as a knit jacket can be).

That is a pretty decent price on Shoebuy, combined with the 15% off (although I think they normally have higher % off coupons often). I got my jacket from Zappos from ~$100 in February of last year. I also saw it at the Patagonia outlet for $8x.xx at the end of the season sale in May.

Yeah, I like the 2nd one better, but I want to find it on sale. Shoebuy doesn't discount the Patagonia stuff from what I can tell (code isn't working) but I have $20 of promo credit there. It brings is to $123 for the style I don't think I love as much. Getting the peacoat variety on sale would be nice. Patagonia outlet?? I'll have to look that up.

Maybe stating the obvious but the two you linked are simply not comparable. The first one, from Shoe Buy, is almost knee length and dressier while the Moosejaw one is short, sportier, pea coat style. One is a coat and the other is a jacket. I have the coat and love it.

I like the first one if you are planning to wear it with boots/skinny jeans/leggings. I would be worried that the 2nd one might not be long enough to cover some tops I would wear with skinny jeans and boots.

And OT, but do you have those Merrill boots already? I was considering those too! How are they?

Ooops, I meant I had the 1st one! I was replying on my phone this morning, getting all confused... I agree that a longer coat would look better with boots if you are going to wear it with skinnies/tunic-length shirts.

Not that helpful, but I totally just lemming purchased that one from Shoebuy! I hope it runs a little small, since I was deciding between medium and large, but they only had the large left. I read on another site that last year's version is better than this year's of the long coat. Oh well, they have free returns if it doesn't work out!

Here's a link to the women's Better Sweater line:

Looks like both are current offerings. I love the icelandic coat. I'll have to wait to see if it goes on sale, though. Maybe at the end of the season.

Don't send it back!! Send it to me! I went to order the coat version just now, and it was sold out in Large.

ETA: I found it somewhere else, but no free returns. I think I'll try the new version in the store this morning to see if L or XL fits better and go from there...QUICKLY
