    Default Toys for 5YO DS

I feel really out of touch as far as toys go. I have plenty of ideas for non toy Christmas gifts for my 5YO DS, but no ideas for actual toys. This year he seems really into dogs and cats too. (Last year was cars, much easier!!!). A lot of relatives seem to want to buy only the toys off the Amazon list, and I'd rather they bought a one dollar item he will like over something more expensive he won't. TIA for any help!!!
Stuff we already have a lot of, Thomas the Tank Engine, Magnatiles, any car stuff, Ipad 2, play dough, books.

My DS is getting a swing set, snap circuits jr, Haba domino run, balance board, Jake and the Neverland Operation game and Quadrilla expansion pieces. My parents are getting him a Hot Wheels Track Builder set.

I'm in the same boat. His go-to is Hot Wheels/Cars and has been since he was 3. He has to get bored at some point, right? Lol We got him a Hot Wheels track, but we are trying:

    Magformers
    Learning Resources teaching cash register
    Scooter
    Puzzles

Duplos/legos have always gotten very little love here. We are trying a Lego Junior set, but I suspect the Magformers will win out...if we can pull him away from the track!

Thank you so much! I was actually thinking about a few of these items but I wasn't sure. Like the snap circuits, scooter, and the stomp rockets too. Going to check out out all the suggestions.
And yes! We are overrum with race car tracks!!! And he still wants more of them!
