I haven't used them in about 30 years but my 15yo refuses to try tampons (grr) and needs something that is absorbent that helps to keep things neat (sorry tmi). So any good suggestions? TIA

My DD uses the same. But it's not always neat. I recently got her to try tampons again and she was able to finally use them! We're all much happier now....

I've been using a cup for 2 years now, but before that I strongly preferred pads. I liked the Kotex because I felt like the Always pads have a plasticy top. I got the thin ones with wings. Wings really help with the messy factor, what ever brand she chooses. Also, make sure she changes it frequently enough to feel fresh.

I like stay free brand...they feel less plasticky to me

I like the Always infinity ones. I'm not a fan of the standard always because of the plasticky top mamamolly mentioned. It always caused irritation but the infinity pads are a lot softer.
I use cloth and plan to start the girls on cloth when needed.
I have always used Always...with wings of course.

Stayfree Ultra Thin with wings, the dry weave of Always has always bothered me since I got my period at 12.
