We are going to tie dye t-shirts at my kids' birthday party next week. Where can I buy t-shirts in bulk? It would be great to find slimmer cut shirts as it will be 90% girls in attendance.

I think Michaels sells t shirts in solid colors for decorating and dying. Not sure about the slim fit though.

(Why? Because the banana smilie is just so funny)
A pack of undershirts from Target (or TJ Maxx, Burlington...). Some are pretty thick and good quality.
Hanes online is good.
Michaels is fine, but IMHO not great fit.
I usually pick up some from Walmart. You'll want 100% cotton (or a blend that's mostly cotton) to get good results. I usually have the best luck in the boys section for unembellished white shirts. For some reason, they think that girls wouldn't want plain white shirts :P I've had good dying results and the shirts hold up well.

i don't know how many shirts you want to buy or what your budget is, but I bought clothing items from Dharma Trading for a family event. We pretreated the clothes in lye prior to the party. The dye worked really well and the colors were so vivid. I bought my DD the Puff Sleeve Single Flounce dress and she wore it for YEARS - first as a dress, then as a swimsuit coverup, and then as a top with leggings.

This store is incredibly helpful. And delivery was quick.
I hope your daughters have a great birthday celebration.
Thank you everyone! I need about 40 shirts
