You know it's bad when people get points for being against sexual abuse cover ups.

Between Gothard, Doug Phillips and Josh Duggar, the patriarchal Christian movement is hurting. I feel sorry for anyone who is emotionally impacted by these betrayals. I am reminded of the Catholic Church sex advise scandal a dozen years ago which really stunned some friends of mine emotionally.

Has anyone else been annoyed by the ridiculous number of times the two Duggar girls have graced the covers of People Magazine and Us Weekly in the last few months? I really don't know why they warrant magazine covers, let alone numerous magazine covers. I have zero interest in hearing about their courtships, engagements, marriages, pregnancies, post-marital life, etc. I feel like I see them on the cover of my trashy, tabloid magazines every other week.

Yes! I've known about the Duggers for a few years, and knew they had the show. I realize they have some celebrity. But I totally don't understand why their engagements, weddings and babies get so much coverage. I thought I was going to scream after Jill had her baby. People Mag was literally posting a story a day on Facebook. Goodness!

A couple of points here:
1. Sexual abuse doesn't just appear "out of the blue". And touching your sleeping 5 year old sister is abuse, not "trying something out". Somebody abused Josh at some point-bet that never got reported and that Josh was told to forgive and go on.
2. He talks about ruining his life--what about his sisters???????????
3. The got "counseling" for him (hard labor under the supervision of a boss who was sent to prision for child porn). What about counseling for the girls???????
4. Jim Bob reported this to a family friend, who happened to be a state trooper--who totally failed in "duty to report"

Yes, God forgives. But that doesn't mean you don't face consequences--and this family needs to face a LOT of consequences. I don't even care about them having more kids--the bottom line is that they put this kid back in their house with his victims. Holy crap!

And then there is his wife saying--Josh told me and my parents about his teenage mistakes. I was shocked but could see he had changed. And she had children with this man.....

I haven't noticed this (but I wouldn't know who they were on a cover) but the issues must have sold really well. That thread linked to earlier had a lot of Duggar fans commenting. I don't think this thread is representative of their (former) appeal.

My bet is it was the family friend/state trooper who was arrested for child porn. If he didn't abuse him then he may have been exposed to his child porn world.

There is so much speculation (mine included) and I'm sure there is a lot more to come. I just hope this coming out will get the victims some help and will protect Josh's children.

I understand he was young but my biggest issue is why was he allowed to still live in the home with his victims? I think that is the part that angers me the most they go on portraying their perfect family when a child in the home had some SERIOUS issues. I'm a for each his own on raising your children but this is some serious messed up. There should have been years of therapy here it was a kid playing DR / you show me yours I'll show you mine......he waited until til they were asleep that is some seriously predator tendencies. I'm glad TLC dropped the show.

I still want TLC to be investigated by the FBI, because I do not believe for one minute that they did not know about the abusive pedophilia happening with their cast members in both of the recent shows. No way. Their only interest was putting the freaky people on display, calling it compelling Americana, and raking in ratings. I don't believe they didn't know, and I'd like to see some jail time for their depraved indifference as a result. If I were the head of TLC right now, I'd be booking a flight to France and seeing if the property near Roman Polanski is available.

IMO, she was forced to have children with him. How much agency do these women have in their own lives, 'courtships' and marriages? Little to none, I bet. He was selected for her, the marriage was arranged and babies were happening whether she liked it or not.

This site has some pretty straight forward info about the situation. I personally think Josh was probably abused or molested by someone. My DH's first reaction was See I told you there was something wrong with that family, he probably learned it from the grand molester Jim Bob.
