Default Stop toddler from unbuckling himself?

I'm posting to help a friend. Her toddler (just turned 2) is unbuckling himself while she is driving. He's in a Nextfit. Are there any (safe) devices/ideas to keep him from doing this? I tried to search old threads, but I'm on my phone and didn't see anything. Thanks for any help!

I think I've seen threads here with behavioral suggestions for this. Your friend should also double check to make sure his seat belt is tight enough since it's definitely easier to open a loose belt.

If it's an ongoing problem this might help : http://carseatblog.com/27151/merritt...escape-artist/

You can also try the button up shirt - put him in button up shirt, the buckle over the harness once he's fully strapped in.

Is it the chest clip he is unbuckling? I have read (I think here) putting an empty tolet paper roll over the chest clip can help prevent that.

If it's the bottom buckle (that's what my DD loved), we found putting a small dot of the scratchy side of Velcro on the button worked well at discouraging her.

We are not punishers in our home, but when DS did that I threatened to throw away his beloved scooter if he did it again! It's been a year and a half and that seemed to do the trick.
