Are any of you afraid of the kids falling off backwards and getting hurt? Admittedly I have not seen one in action but I kinda imagine the same injuries the roller-sneakers caused. Anyone know the intended age range for these?

A ten year old was visiting our office and did do a "banana peel" type fall from it. One of my co-workers as well.

I would say 8 and up, maybe? Perhaps younger...it's really all about figuring out the balance portion of it. Once you've got that, it seems pretty straight forward. I had it figured out in about 5 mins and I have terrible balance.

My kids will be required to helmet-up, and I am thinking about wrist guards or elbow pads.

DS really wants one of these but I am nervous to pay so much when it could be a piece of junk.

Yes, same here! I think I've convinced DS that maybe we wait until Spring to find out what everyone thought of the boards they got over the holidays. Seems way too expensive for something that might not get much use if it's junk or too hard to use.

I cant find a link but they JUST had a story on our local news about one that caught on fire and destroyed a child's room. Unfortunately, I was paying attention to the bbb and I cant find a link but might be something to look into to check the circumstances before buying?

I saw that, too! It supposedly exploded while charging.
