I really like it a lot, and I've been following over on GW too. I think it will definitely be a focal point in your kitchen. It won't be as overpowering when it's horizontal on your cabinets.

I love the cherry cabinet/soapstone combo too, but I understand the need for both you and DH to agree on the stone. I originally planned on marble-like Quartz or a very white granite but DH wasn't happy with anything I initially showed him. We ended up with a very different, much more dramatic stone than I intended and I love it.

I agree! I love the granite. But I don't think I would like it paired with the dark cabinets.

    Default Thoughts on this granite?

    Great feedback, thanks!!

Here is a pic with the granite installed:

And here's a similar granite with pretty much the exact shade of cherry we'll be using:

We definitely don't want a solid or uniform color/pattern, so even if we go with soapstone, it will be a very veiny one. But I am nervous about this granite!

Honed granite is like a matte. Personally I'd go for soapstone. It's classic. This is a little too 80s glitzy/glamour for me although I do like the movement of it.

My thoughts exactly - I do like it, but when I saw it, I thought '80s.

The veining is gorgeous! While I love cherry cabinetry, my preference would be to pair this stone with white .

I love it in the first pic you posted! But, I don't think I like it with darker cabinets. It's too dark overall, and I don't think the colors are complimentary.

I agree. It's gorgeous but seems over the top. I think it could look dated quickly.

I think it is a bit much for all the surfaces. I have soapstone with a lot of veining and it doesn't really compare. Could it be honed so it wasn't so shiny/polished?
