    Default Help! Hair loss!

My hair is falling out like crazy since I had DS almost 4 months ago. I know it's common to lose hair after pregnancy, but I think I should be seeing a reduction in the amount of hair I am losing by now. I did mention it to my doctor and she didn't seem too concerned, but checked my thyroid, that was fine. I have another appointment the end of next month. If there is still no improvement I am going to bring it up again. Any thoughts? I don't remember this much hair loss after I had DD. TIA!

If the amount of shedding hasn't decreased by 6 months post part us, check ferritin, zinc, and vit D.

I don't think my shedding really kicked in until 3 mos pp with my two. I think you are probably still within the range of normal.

This is me. I thought I was going to be the exception and then at the 3 month pp mark my hair started falling out and kept falling out for a good 6 months.

Yes, definitely get your ferritin (iron stores) levels checked. Under 50 usually leads to hair loss. Ideal for a woman is 70-90.

4 months is when hair loss peaks from what I read. I remember it specifically because that's exactly when my daughter had a hair wrapped around her toe (hair tourniquet syndrome...an article about it has been floating around the Internet this week). I wouldn't be too concerned at this point if I were you.
