Default Carseat for a newly turned 4 year old? Eta more info...

We need a carseat for a big 4 year old who is not used to being in a carseat. Vehicles it will be used in are Dodge and Subaru. Am I better off getting something harnessed even though kiddo is unaccustomed to this or a high back booster?
    ETA...
    Budget: no more than $150
Vehicles: 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan and 2012 Subaru Legacy
Needs to be narrow enough to sit two teenagers on either side in the sedan.
    TIA

I mostly just wanted to say "Hi, Kath!"

But, also I'd still do a harnessed booster for a four yearold. No recommendations though.

Hi! Good tos see a familiar face. I'm thinking something harnessed also. Going to look at BRU, Baby Depot and BuyBuyBaby. Target had the typical stuff when I looked- a Baby Trend where the buckle is too far back, a safety 1st, a graco high back.

We just switched 5 year old DD to the Frontier and she loves it. She calls it her 'big girl car seat' even though she is still harnessed.

Thanks! I took a look at them today. So plush! Probably a little out of my budget but keeping on my list.

If you need a narrower seat to fit in the sedan take a look at the Graco Tranzitions at BRU and the Harmony Defender at Baby Depot (not sure if they keep them in stock or only online?). Both should be in your price range.

We have the evenflo surelatch. We use it as a spare seat but my DD loves it. So easy to install. Highly recommend.

Any thoughts on a Graco Contender 65? I know it won't become a booster, however it looks like it is a good, safe option for now.

Contender is pretty nice if you can grab it for a good price and use it harnessed for another year or so.
Evenflo Maestro is pretty big-kid-y and might not garner too much upset.
What did you end up with?
