Just as you can't specify what gift you receive, you certainly can't specify where a gift comes from. I see no reason not to get a gift from Target because (1) you have a red card and get benefits from using it; and (2) you buy almost all your gifts there.

I wouldn't buy them a target gift card, but I think it's ok to buy the gift there. I boycott Walmart if at all possible, but I wouldn't blame someone for buying me a gift from there.

But I think saying that a transgender woman needs to use a men's bathroom, and vice versa, is potentially very unsafe for said transgender person. So it makes me angry that people are arguing to make it unsafe for people. Maybe anger is the wrong reaction, but it's my honest one. I know that people think that they are making it more safe for their children, but I don't think this is true. I personally don't think that a transgender person is any threat (yes there are bad people of every kind, but for the most part), and I don't believe that someone is going to dress like the opposite sex and go into a Target bathroom and assault someone because of this rule. And dressing like the opposite sex is very different than transgender anyway, and just dressing like the opposite sex doesn't give one the right to go in that bathroom.

So it makes me mad when people argue for an unsafe policy, and I believe Target's is aimed at safety and inclusion.
I appreciate the response and understanding the intent of my question.

to both of these. I have been a one-woman boycott of Walmart for years. I'll happily tell anyone why and it's great when someone agrees with me. I think it's super considerate when another parent tells me they purposely didn't buy my kids birthday gifts there because of my boycott, but I never expect them to. When we get a gift from Walmart I just grimace and move on.

Yup. Every damn present she and her kids got for the rest of her life would come from Target with a big 'ol gift receipt taped to it.

I'd go to an independent bookstore and buy a book. I don't shop at Walmart nor live within 20 miles of one so hate Walmart gifts but don't expect others to share my belief.
