Default Finding large dining table for 8+ guests?

We host our extended family for all the major holiday dinners (e.g., Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mother's Day/Father's Day, etc.) and I'd like to replace our 15 year old table set. I think I want a classic/casual style. I love pedestal tables, but I don't think pedestal tables expand as large as I need. Ideally, I want to seat 8-10 guests (if not more). We always have to add extra tables for parties anyway, but I put the grandparents and great-grandparents at the "nice table" with real chairs (as opposed to the folding chairs and plastic card tables).

I am considering a farmhouse table, as it would have the heft to stand up to a large open space. We have a huge 2 story entry that is one open space for the dining room/living room/entry area. DDs would also use this table to do homework, so I don't want anything too fancy as it will be regularly used.

I poked around the websites of Crate and Barrel (didn't like anything there), Pottery Barn (I liked the Sumner farmhouse table but am not going to spend over $3,000), Restoration Hardware (some nice options but beyond my budget), and West Elm (their farmhouse tables were either too chunky or too Mid-Century Modern). I wish I could find something on Craigslist (and may keep stalking the site), but are there other more reasonably priced options? Can you suggest where else to look?

We have an Amish made table that is mission style and seats 6 with leaves stored inside the table that expand it out to seat 12. It is very wide so we can also put two people on each end (especially if they're kids).
With a quick search, this is the closest I can find to what we have but it may give you some search terms. We have a 4 leaf trestle table.

Look at Ethan Allen, I got our dining room table 9 years ago. Perhaps look at their dis continued tables? I'll have to look at our specific line as can't recall off my head. But it is big enough to seat 8 with pull outs to 6 additional people more with 2 extra leaves put in table.

    We have this 104" table:

    and eight of these chairs:

    with these cushions:

The table could easily seat 10 and we have two extra chairs when we need to seat more people.
It looks much more utilitarian on the site, but is a great, large, warm table. We found the entire set (with an extra set of back up cushions still wrapped in plastic) for $900 on craigslist.

Craigslist is a good idea. I see dining room sets all the time. You can also try Costco. They have a few choices.

I like dining tables from World Market, as they are well made and reasonably priced. Here is one that seats 10--

The downside is that the grooves of the planked tabletop can easily collect crumbs.

We have and love our Lugano table, but it seats 8 max (unless you use bench seating)--

Would you be willing to do the final finish on the table? If so, you might be able t o find something at a local unfinished furniture store.

We have had this farmhouse style Broyhill table for 12 years. We have the black Windsor chairs with it. For the first 8, it was in our large kitchen at our previous home. Since then, it's been our dining room table, but we eat in our dining room every night, so it's been our primary table the entire time. It still looks great.

It has two breadboard extensions that extend it out to 108", so you can get at least 10 at the table. We often get 12, because the table is also wide, and we can get 2 people on each end when we need to. I love the breadboard extensions that go in on the ends because it gives the table an interesting look if you just want to set the table with placemats and a runner, or looks good with a tablecloth for more formal
occasions. And the leaves are easy to insert since they go in on the ends and just have a sliding lock mechanism underneath.
