THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, everyone! Your thoughts and prayers really mean a lot. I am praying for peace & joy for my husband...he has just been under so much stress. As difficult as it may be, I want him to TRY to enjoy the holiday season and not focus on the $. 😢 I want to see his smile and hear his laugh.

Best of luck to your DH! Also, FYI an organization can't just unilaterally deem someone a contractor (1099) instead of an employee. In order to be properly categorized as a contractor certain criteria must be met. The fact that he was originally an employee and then subsequently deemed a contractor makes it very fishy. I'm not familiar with your state's laws but in CA, it's very easy for an aggrieved worker to file a claim with the state to have them examine the arrangement and order the company to pay back wages and taxes if warranted. You may want to check your state's laws and consider your DH's circumstances.
