Default What do you use to attach garland to your banister?

I thought curly ribbon would work but it doesn't look great. I'm afraid to use wire because I don't want to scratch the wood. Thoughts? TIA

zip ties. I do not like the look of garland on my banister, but my sister does on hers and uses zip ties.

I use brown satin ribbon that blends in well, but I like the zip ties idea.

I use the green thin floral wire and it's never scratched the wood. However, it is just a builder grade oak colored one, though - nothing fancy.

Garland wrap, which is basically green Velcro. Like this, but I think ours is scotch brand. We've been reusing the same cut pieces for years, so lasts forever.

I have this!!! I bought it on clearance at some point but had no idea what to use it for. Thanks for all the ideas - off to see what I can dig up.

3M removable hooks. I put them on the half wall at the top to anchor those pieces and then just loop the long part through the spindles. But the hooks would work just as well on the banister itself. When the garland comes down, I remove the hooks and put them away for the next year. I do need to buy replacement backs (the sticky part) this year, but the hooks can be reused.

I also have some of these hooks in DD's closet.
