Default Research Phase: ADHD Medications, Complementary Therapy

What's a reliable, not drug-company-run, not super-opinionated place to begin researching ADHD medications? I don't have enough patience to sort through noise and I don't want to read commercials; I just want to learn about the various options so I can discuss them with DD's pediatrician at her next well checkup.

Also, if your child is in complementary psychotherapy for ADHD, what age did you begin? DD will be 7 in a few weeks, and part of her treatment plan from her ADHD diagnosis includes recommending therapy for her AND parenting skills for DH and me.

DH will not go and doesn't want to put DD into therapy because he's not a fan of the area psych community.

I worry that foregoing the therapy bit won't give DD enough support to learn to manage her issues.

    Help!

DD was diagnosed at 5, she sees a psychologist monthly. Parent meeting are on an as needed basis. I personally think the parent meetings are very helpful. You should go even if your DH won't.

    Thank you!

I need to learn more about ADHD in general (I find that I have a lot of misconceptions, though I am sympathetic to it, and my parenting style isn't really working to help DD, so I'm often frustrated and anxious) and how to parent a child with ADHD.

CHADD is great. DS2 does not have ADHD but was dx with it initially (wrong dx) he has seen a therapist since he was 6. It has helped him and helped us better understand how to help him.

Thank you! I really need basic info plus strategies. I will be attending a lecture on parenting strategies to use with ADHD in a week, but DD has her 7 year well visit coming up soon and we're going to ask about medication. Her teachers have commented that DD gets to about 10am before she starts to struggle (school begins at 8:50am) so she definitely needs something to complement the stuff her teachers have been doing with her.
