What really put me to bed were the hypnobabies CDs. I fell asleep listening to them every single night while I was pregnant with DS1. After he was born, I listened to them for a few weeks since I had become dependent on them...but it was hard to do that with a newborn.

Now when I'm stressed I take melatonin, which usually takes the edge off...usually 3 mg.

Same here. I used them for a while after having DS to help get to sleep. It was years before I deleted them from my iTunes playlists.

I've read that magnesium oil applied topically can be absorbed better than orally. You could try a hot bath with Epsom salts before bath.
If you are interested in trying a meditation, I highly recommend the Headspace app. I read about it on here when another poster praised it. It also has nice meditations for children.

Have you thought of trying yoga? Like not even the advanced yoga but just YouTube "Yoga for sleep" and you will find a lot of simpe moves to do right before bed.
